For 5 years now we have been on about this little piece of ‘heaven on earth’, which we long to come back to year after year. My son and daughter are coming with us this year to find out what it’s all about! My computer screen reminds me each morning what we have to look forward to! When we first started coming to Corfu we stayed in the apartments on ‘the hill’ in Kalami Bay; but the steepness got a bit too much for me so the following year we tried an apartment on the beach and although basic, the accommodation was very clean and it had the advantage of a sitting area under the vines overlooking the sea which was only a stones throw away. We are so well looked after that it would be hard to go anywhere else. There are a number of supermarkets and a few gift shops in the village and a couple of tavernas on the beach. There are 2 bars to my recollection, where apart from enjoying an evening cocktail you can watch football on T.V. The beach is of fine shingle and you would need shoes for the sea. The sea is quite clear and ideal for snorkelling off the rocks. It is very quiet compared to other resorts on the island; but there are cars for hire and the bus service is good for getting around so you are not so isolated. On an evening’ after getting dressed up, we would take a boat ride round the bay to Agni and the ‘Taverna Nikolas’ for dinner. We cannot speak highly enough of the place. My husband writes for a national newspaper and every time we are at the ‘Nikolas’ we feel it deserves recognition. The staff are so friendly, not to mention the delights that leave the kitchen! Perikles is always at hand to welcome his ‘friends’. It has such a warmth about the place that it’s hard to imagine going anywhere else. I’m sure you can tell we just love the place and the price is unbelievable! See you all soon, Alastair and Valerie Taylor and family.
